Home and Garden Television (HGTV) selected J&S Plumbing as the resident plumber for this season of Sarah’s House. J&S owner Joe Rizzi, brother Mike and two staff technicians spent five months in production with the show, remodeling three bathrooms, a kitchen and a laundry room. HGTV came to J&S because of their reputation and personality. Sarah’s House host, producer and interior designer Sarah Richardson said, "J&S was an integral part of Sarah’s House. Their plumbing services were top notch. They were professional, dedicated and a pleasure to deal with (which means there was no TV drama, but they can count me as a very satisfied client)." Joe Rizzi added, "a day on the set with HGTV is filled with starting, stopping and repeating the tasks of the trade and we were happy to do it because it was an opportunity to highlight our work and commitment to customer service in a very visible way."
The entire season of Sarah’s House focuses on Sarah renovating a fixer upper house in Toronto. Sarah Richardson selects her house among several and then every episode is a progression of renovating the house room by room. Our first episode premiered on October 21st. We invite you to tune into our upcoming appearances. Go to www.js-plumbing.com for a link to the episodes.

Fall and Winter Plumbing Tips from J&S Service Technician Mike Rizzi |

1. Disconnect outside water hoses. Water can freeze inside the hose, causing the faucet and connecting pipes inside your home to freeze and burst.
2. Insulate pipes in unheated areas like garages and crawl spaces.
3. Flush out your water heater to remove sediment that leads to corrosion and lower efficiency.
4. Check the setting on your water heater to prevent scalding. Water heaters should never be set above 48?C.
5. Don’t put celery, carrots, banana peels or potato skins down the garbage disposal.
6. Don’t pour grease down the drain. It clogs.
7. If you’re not planning to be home for the holidays, make sure your thermostat is set at 12?C or higher and turn off the main water valve and open the faucets to avoid pipe freeze.
